Township receives grant to benefit Strawbridge Lake

Moorestown Township has received a grant from the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Moorestown’s Strawbridge Lake Park will benefit from a $200K grant awarded by the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders as part of its Municipal Park Development Program, according to a release issued on Oct. 31.

The proposed amenities include a pedestrian path, designated picnic areas, benches, fishing docks, bike racks, signs and water’s edge lookouts, all designed to enhance the park’s amenities for increased use and enjoyment, provide accessibility and enrich understanding of the lake’s history, ecosystem and watersheds.

“On behalf of the members of Moorestown Town Council, we are so pleased to accept a $200K grant from Burlington County that will enable us to continue improvements at Strawbridge Lake Park,” said Mayor Manny Delgado. “We are immensely proud of our park system and we are committed to doing everything we can to protect, preserve and enhance the experiences of all visitors.”

Moorestown has a long history of investment and commitment to local parks, recreation and open space. The township owns approximately 700 acres of open space intended for recreation and conservation purposes. An additional 265 acres are preserved by the municipality for conservation purposes, such as greenways along the Pennsauken, Rancocas and Pompeston creeks, Swede Run and other uses.

Improvements will be implemented in two phases, beginning with a 6-foot wide pedestrian path that will connect to existing paths on Kings Highway and Pleasant Valley Avenue, along with interpretive signs. Details of the project, as well as timelines for the improvements, will be shared with the community as they become available.
