‘It can happen to anyone:’ Clayton’s Hope raises awareness for epilepsy research
Clayton Myers went to sleep on Oct. 15, 2004, as a typical young boy in Washington Township, but when he woke up, his life, and his family, would be changed forever. After contracting a virus, which ultimately spread to his brain, Clayton experienced years of chronic seizures, and was ultimately diagnosed with epilepsy. In his honor, his mother Shelby and his family created the not-for-profit organization Clayton’s Hope.
Washington Township Police Department partake in nationwide Movember movement for men’s health
Beginning Nov. 1, approximately 35 officers, as well as members of the Washington Township Police Department’s command staff, will sport their best, or worst, facial hair for an initial donation of $25. Throughout the month, participants are encouraged to solicit donations from family members and local businesses to support charity organizations that provide funding for the treatment of prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention for men.
Council recognizes Washington Township’s first Employee of the Month at meeting
At last week’s council meeting, Mayor Joann Gattinelli recognized Washington Township’s first Employee of the Month, Colette Bachich. A resident of Washington Township for 15 years, Bachich balances two jobs as the assistant finance officer and human resource officer, a position that was implemented this year. According to Gattinelli, the new Employee of the Month program seeks to “encourage employees to put their best foot forward and take pride in their work.” Those recognized with the honor are employees who embody dedication and ambition in their service to Washington Township.
