Heather Conger is recipient of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX’s Augie Eosso Award.
Rowan College at Burlington County’s Director of Athletics Heather Conger is the 2017 recipient of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX’s highest honor, the Augie Eosso Award.
The Augie Eosso award is given to an individual who exemplifies and demonstrates committed service and dedication to the NJCAA Region XIX. It is named after Augie Eosso, who was a longtime athletics director and golf coach at Raritan Valley Community College and was an important contributor to Region XIX.
Conger, who was honored at the Region XIX Fall Athletic Director Meeting in Mt. Pocono on Thursday, Oct. 5, is the first female to receive the award since it was created in 2014.
“Rowan College at Burlington County’s Director of Athletics Heather Conger is dedicated to our student athletes and their success both on and off the field,” said RCBC Acting President Michael Cioce. “The entire Barons family is proud of her accomplishments and commends the Region for recognizing her efforts through this award.”
Conger will enter her seventh year as the Barons Director of Athletics, overseeing seven men’s and women’s sports teams and more than 125 student-athletes. The aquatics facility, fitness/wellness center, athletic fields and gymnasium are also under her management. Conger currently serves as the Region XIX Assistant Women’s Director, and is part of the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey’s Executive Committee.
“I am honored to have been considered and recognized by my peers with the Augie Eosso Award. I am thankful for my Region XIX colleagues and RCBC staff who have been extremely supportive of my leadership roles within the Region,” Conger said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the Region so that collectively we can provide the best experience for all of Region XIX’s student-athletes.”
Conger earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, as well as her master’s of education, with a concentration in athletic administration from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). During her time at TCNJ, she captained the women’s soccer team her junior and senior year, and was a member of the 1994 and 1996 teams that advanced to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer National Championship, winning the championship in 1994.
