Do something: Community Shred Day, Comedy Show and more

Fall festivals and Halloween-themed events are all the rage around the Philadelphia region this weekend. Find an event for your family to enjoy in today’s Do Something.

In Washington Township

  • On Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building parking lot, bring your bags and boxes of paper to be shredded by an experienced operator from DocuVault Delaware Valley. One hundred percent of the shredded paper is recycled. Only paper is accepted; no plastic bags or metal. Limit four bags/boxes per car. IDs will be checked.   • At 7 p.m. on Saturday at Rastelli Kids Complex, 1855 Hurffville Cross Keys Road, local standup comics Chris Coccia, Bob Masdale and Vince Valentine will contribute to a laugh-out-loud night of fun. The even will feature a 50/50 raffle benefiting the Washington Township Education Foundation. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for $30 at www.wtefcomedynight.eventbrite.com.   • The seventh annual Berlin Fall Fest will take place along West Broad Avenue in Berlin Borough on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities, including a car show, crafters, music, pumpkin painting, sumo wrestling competition, food trucks and more.   • Haddonfield’s third annual Police and Community Day will take place at Borough Hall on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include police, fire, EMS and swat vehicles on display, a K-9 demonstration, bike safety rodeo, food, music, entertainment and more.   • The first Taste of Cherry Hill is coming to Cherry Hill High School East this weekend. The event will take place on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. in the high school’s cafeteria. Numerous local eateries will be giving out samples of their best dishes. Admission on the day of the event is $12 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under.   • Prior to Taste of Cherry Hill, residents can swing by the Cherry Hill East parking lot for the school’s Community Yard and Vendor Sale. At the Jersey Shore

  • Octoberfest will arrive in Sea Isle City on Saturday. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Excursion Park, located at 40th Street and Pleasure Avenue. The event includes hay rides on the beach, a pie baking contest, moon bounces for the kids, pumpkin painting, music, games and more. The event is free to attend and will be held, rain or shine.   • Halloween arrives early in Cape May this weekend. Cape May’s annual Halloween Parade will take place on Sunday with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. on the corner of Perry Street and Washington Street. The parade will begin at Perry Street and Carpenter Lane, proceed down Carpenter Lane to Ocean Street, travels down Washington Street and ends at the Emlen Physick Estate located at 1048 Washington Street. Prizes will be awarded in different age groups at the end of the parade. There will also be trick or treating from noon to 2 p.m. at the Washington Street Mall. In Philadelphia

  • Apple lovers will want to be at the Woodford Mansion in Philadelphia on Saturday for the ninth annual Community Apple Festival. The event takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at the mansion, 2300 North 33rd Street in Philadelphia. There will be a slew of activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy, including cider making, apple tasting, pumpkin painting, games, music, refreshments, orchard tours and more.   • Walk for a good cause at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday. The 2017 Autism Speaks Walk Philadelphia will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The walk is the largest autism fundraising event dedicate to improving the lives of people with autism. The event will include lots of activities, including crafts and games for kids leading up to the walk at 10 a.m. Participants can register and donate at the registration tent on the day of the event.
