Fashion runs in the family.
“My grandma was a fashion designer, and she taught me how to sew,” said Isabella DiPietro, a senior at Shawnee High School who recently won an award for Top Student Designer at Atlantic City Fashion Week. She beat out mostly college students.
DiPietro wasn’t expecting the award in the least. She didn’t even tell her friends and family it was a competition, thinking she probably wouldn’t win anyway.
“I was just very very surprised,” she said. “It definitely meant a lot.”
The award came with some publicity to boot. She got her name on the cover of Belle Femme magazine, which featured a short Q and A on the inside about herself.

Keeping with our October theme, there will be a Monster Make-n-Take all day all week beginning October 23rd through the 27th. The week will be capped off with a special Halloween Story time with Mr. Rick at 10:30 on the 27th. Join him for some spooky stories and fun shared with our 3 to 6-year-old guests.
Leas Forum Explores the Life and Work of Female Activist
Guests are invited to attend a lecture that will dive into the fascinating life of Mary Vaux Wolcott on Oct. 28 at 11 a.m at the Medford Campus Theater at Medford Leas. Marjorie G. Jones, author of The Life of Mary Vaux Wolcott, will share the inspiring story of the Philadelphia Quaker female artist. Attendees will learn about the extraordinary experiences of Mary Vaux Wolcott and how history, religion, politics, women’s studies, science, and art influenced her daily life.
This event is free and does not require registration. The Leas Forum Committee is made up of members of the Medford Leas Residents’ Association (MLRA). This committee works collaboratively to organize and schedule sessions to include in the Pathways Program.
