Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio Announces FREE Shredding Event Oct. 7

Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio announced today that the Freeholder’s next paper shredding event will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine at Rowan College at Burlington County’s Mount Laurel Campus.

“The Freeholder Board is proud to host another shredding event at Rowan College at Burlington County’s Mount Laurel campus to offer residents the opportunity to dispose of their confidential documents at a convenient location and continue to expand recycling,” said Freeholder Director Garganio. “We have seen a tremendous turnout so far this year, with 4,104 residents utilizing our services to recycle 150,608 pounds of confidential documents.”

Residents are urged to bring only “confidential” documents for shredding, such as bank and credit card statements, tax returns, papers with account numbers or social security numbers. They will be shredded on-site. Please, no binders, plastic folders, computer disks or plastic credit cards. Up to four bags or boxes per car will be accepted. Already-shredded paper can also be recycled at this event.

“With a large turnout expected, we are reminding residents that there is a limit of 4 boxes or bags. This will allow us to serve as many residents as possible,” added Garganio. “Additionally, this event may end prior to 1 p.m. if shredding trucks reach full capacity.”

Dates and locations for additional shredding events will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Residents are reminded that they can download “Recycle Coach,” an innovative mobile app designed to make recycling even easier. The app allows users to set personal recycling reminders, confirm whether or not an item can be recycled, or report any problems,” concluded Garganio. “Shred event reminders are also included on the free and easy to use app. To download, go to the iTunes or GooglePlay app store, or if you do not have a smartphone enjoy the desktop friendly version at this link: http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/1602/Recycle-Coach.”

This FREE event is for Burlington County residents only. ID is required. No businesses, please. For more information call (609) 499–1001 weekdays or email [email protected].
