Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice is presenting a fall movie series entitled “Movies Worth Talking About” as a part of its “Timely Conversations” initiative.
The series offers two free community screenings of “Consider the Conversation: Stories about Cure, Relief & Comfort” and “Being Mortal,” which explore how to navigate end-of-life care, options and conversations.
After each screening, audience members may participate in a guided conversation on communicating wishes about end-of-life goals and preferences with family and health care professionals.
“Consider the Conversation: Stories about Cure, Relief & Comfort” will screen on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m.
The film explores the effect of American medicine’s success on the patient and doctor relationship and sheds light on the important role communication plays in helping patients, doctors and family members navigate healthcare options through serious illness and end of life.
“Being Mortal” will screen on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m.
“Being Mortal” explores the national conversation that brings medical professionals and community members together around the shared responsibility of discussing what matters most to patients and families facing difficult treatment decisions and how to have these conversations ahead of a medical crisis.
Each screening will take place at The Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 Route 73 South, in Voorhees.
Registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.
