Tony Luke speaks at Kennedy Health’s Opioid Crisis Symposium

The goal of the event was to help area medical personnel become comfortable and educated on the treatment of opioid-addicted patients.

Tony Luke, Helene Burns, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Kennedy’s Chief Nurse Executive and Dr. Jim Baird, Kennedy — Washington Township Assistant Emergency Department Medical Director, who has helped spearhead Kennedy’s hospital-based opioid addiction prevention efforts.

The following is a press release from Kennedy Health:

More than 200 Kennedy Health physicians, nurses, executives and area EMS personnel attended Kennedy Health’s Interprofessional Opioid Crisis Symposium featuring U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (D-1) and area ‘Cheesesteak King’ Tony Luke on Wednesday, September 20th, at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin, NJ.

Congressman Norcross opened the event by providing an overview of the Garden State’s current opioid epidemic and efforts to combat it, while Tony Luke shared the personal addiction story of his 35-year-old son, who died in March 2017 from a heroin overdose.
