The Camden County Mosquito Control Commission will spray for mosquitos in Cherry Hill between the hours of 3 and 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22. The commission schedules mosquito spraying on an as-needed basis based upon the results of their surveillance efforts and input from the public.

“We’ve had more rain this summer than usual, and that creates an environment that’s good for mosquito breeding and bad for our neighborhoods,” said Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Mosquito Control Commission. “Mosquitos need standing water to breed, so you can help keep them from your property by removing any standing water from places like flower pots and containers. This helps us reduce the pest population in your neighborhood, and it assists the efforts of the Camden County Mosquito Control Commission.”

Mosquito spraying will take place on the following streets.

· Maine Avenue

· Ridge Road

· Ridge Court

· Valley Run Drive

· West Ormond Avenue

· Brace Road

· Greenvale Road

· Hart Road

· Holden Road

· Park Road

“The commission works with the Public Health Environmental Laboratories in Trenton to verify the presence of West Nile Virus and other communicable diseases in their samples,” Nash said. “If a pool tests positive, the Mosquito Commission returns to spray the area. The sprayings take place when the mosquitoes are most active.”

Mosquito spray is not harmful to humans or pets, but anyone who has respiratory concerns or is sensitive to irritants should avoid direct contact.
