Chess Club at Palmyra Community Center kicking off Sept. 28

Kids between the ages of 9 to 18 are invited to register for this weekly club!

From 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. every Thursday, beginners will learn piece movement, basic rules, and modern strategies of this nearly 1500-year-old fun and competitive game. Strategic concepts will be taught with clear, easy-to-absorb explanations accompanied by examples of how chess strategy is used in practice.

This chess club will run from Sept. 28 to Nov. 2. Registration is required, but members do not need to attend every class. The instructor is Donald Battle, a member of the United States Chess Federation since 1998. Battle is a United States Chess Federation affiliate, and a certified club tournament director who was ranked in top 5% in the United States in 2015.

The class fee is $20 for residents, and $30 for non-residents. Registration can be completed at http://www.palmyracommunitycenter.com.
