Additional state aid going toward capital projects, technology in Cherry Hill schools
At Tuesday’s Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting, the board approved a resolution to allocate $1,021,510 of additional state aid into the school district’s 2017–18 budget. The school district received additional aid after some of the state aid was redistributed in New Jersey’s adopted Fiscal Year 2018 budget. Assistant Superintendent for Business Lynn Shugars said the district decided to use the money to fund capital projects and instructional technology.
Cherry Hill Township indefinitely postpones public hearing on Hampton Road redevelopment plan
Cherry Hill Township officials are planning to take another look at a proposed redevelopment play for Hampton Road. At Monday’s council meeting, township solicitor Robert Wright announced the second reading and public hearing on the Hampton Road redevelopment plan would be postponed indefinitely. Two weeks prior to the announcement, dozens of residents spoke out against the plan.
Erlton Gators back on top at Cherry Bowl
One year after their 2016 Cherry Bowl ended in disappointment, Erlton Swim Club swam its way back on top on Saturday in the 58th annual Cherry Bowl at Kingston Estates Swim Club. The Erlton Gators finished 24 points of Old Orchard Swim Club to win the team’s fourth Cherry Bowl title in six years. The first place finish comes in the same year the team is celebrating its 50th anniversary,
Erlton Swim Club Gators attempt world record at 50th anniversary celebration
More than 230 swimmers, parents, coaches and club members from Erlton Swim Club showed their team spirit last Friday during a 50th anniversary celebration for the Erlton Gators swim team. The club attempted to set a Guinness World Record for most people dressed as gators in one place. Though the club came up short of the record, members spoke proudly about how their club is like a family.
Family reunions a tradition for the Bednarchik family
Last Friday at Barclay Farm Swim Club, a large group of people gathered together on the hillside to kick off another edition of a family tradition. The Bednarchik family gathered in South Jersey last weekend for their tenth reunion. The family has gotten together for a reunion every three years since 1987. For family members who have been part of every reunion, the gatherings never get old.
