Letter to the editor: Opinion of the people should matter more

Writer asks: ‘What does the Washington Township administration think of the voters?’

What does the Washington Township administration think of the voters?

The township clerk, after months of review, has found the method to reject the will of the 1,800-plus voters.

Mr. Selb, the township clerk, rejected the petition for placing the township’s salary ordinance on the November ballot. This action by the administration is viewed by this writer as a snub indicative of a probable desire to avoid the voice of the township voters and residents.

Mr. Selb worked for months to find a possible rejection. The decision was based upon 127 signatures that could be rejected. The 127, or 0.069059 approaches 7 percent. If you were a student you would be close to an A or B plus. It seems the desires of political self-protection wins out over the opinion of the people who live and pay taxes in the Township of Washington.
