Mosquito spraying scheduled for early Thursday morning in Cherry Hill

Mosquito spraying will take place in some Cherry Hill Township neighborhoods in the early morning hours on Thursday.

The Camden County Mosquito Commission will be spraying for mosquitos in Cherry Hill on Thursday, July 20, between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m.

“The current forecast for this weekend shows a ton of rain and possible storms, so homeowners need to be especially aware of where water might gather on their property,” said Camden County Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Mosquito Commission. “Mosquitos need standing water to breed so after any rain you should check for, and remove, any standing water that may be left in places like flower pots and containers. This simple act can help reduce the pest population in your neighborhood, and assist the efforts of the Camden County Mosquito Control Commission.”

Mosquito spraying will take place, weather permitting along the following streets:

  • Ascot Lane
  • Bala Road
  • Beechwood Avenue
  • Belmont Drive
  • Birchwood Park Drive North
  • Bowie Lane
  • Chandler Terrace
  • Chapel Avenue West
  • Cherry Hill Boulevard
  • Colmar Road
  • Colwick Road
  • Darien Drive
  • Devon Road
  • Edward Avenue
  • Forrest Hill Drive
  • Franklin Avenue
  • Haral Place
  • Harvard Avenue

“The commission works with the Public Health Environmental Laboratories in Trenton to verify the presence of West Nile Virus and other communicable diseases in their samples,” Nash said. “If a pool tests positive, the Mosquito Commission returns to spray the area. The sprayings take place when the mosquitoes are most active.”

The mosquito spray is not harmful to humans or pets. Residents with respiratory concerns or who are sensitive to irritants should avoid contact.
