The Committee for the July 4th Parade sponsored a “Freedom Poster Contest” and asked Moorestown elementary students what “We the People” means to them.
What comes to your mind when asked: “What does the theme of this year’s parade — ‘We the People’ — mean to you?” The Committee for the July 4th Parade sponsored a “Freedom Poster Contest” and asked this question directly to Moorestown elementary students. The “Freedom Posters” they received reflected creativity, ingenuity and patriotic thinking.
The posters can be viewed for the remainder of the summer months in the children’s corner at the Moorestown Library.
The 2017 parade spotlighted these participants by riding on their very own float at the beginning of the parade on July 4th. The goal of this program is to give children an avenue to express their understanding of freedom and patriotism. We thank the parents for their encouragement in supporting their children to participate in the contest.
The 2017 contestants that were recognized are:
· 1st Place: Abby Postell, age 9 at Upper Elementary School for “Preamble of Constitution.”
· 2nd Place: Bella Lipski, age 7 at George C. Baker School, for “We the People”.
· 3rd Place: Ashley Carey, age 9 at George C. Baker School, for “Our Original 13 Colonies.”
Honorable Mentions went to:
· Beatrix Williams, age 7 at George C. Baker School for “Fourth of July.”
· Amanda Appleton, age 7 at George C. Baker School for “Abe Lincoln/ White House.”
· Meghan North, age 7 at Roberts School, for George C. Baker School.
· Khloe Cox, age 7 at Roberts School, for “Our American Flag.”
· Brendon Cary, age 6 at George C. Baker School., for “4th of July.”
· Thanvi Pentapalli, of South Valley Elementary, for “Fireworks and Our Flag.”
· Amber D’Angelo, of Our Lady of Good Counsel, for “An Army Man & Our Flag” Our Lady of Good Counsel.
