Mt. Laurel Fire Department warns against illegal use of fireworks for Fourth of July celebrations

The following message comes from Fire Marshal Brian McVey of the Mt. Laurel Fire Department:

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our independence. During this time of celebration, I would like to remind the residents of Mt. Laurel to be aware of the hazards of using fireworks.

In the State of New Jersey, it is illegal to manufacture, sell or use fireworks.

N.J.S.A. 21:3–1 Dangerous fireworks prohibited

It shall be unlawful to manufacture, sell, transport or use dangerous fireworks within the state.

N.J.S.A. 21:3–2 Fireworks

The possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling and use of fireworks are prohibited.
