Katz JCC launching second Bubbe’s Brisket crowdfunding campaign

The campaign will raise money for the JCC’s senior meal program.

The Katz JCC in Cherry Hill is home to the largest congregate senior meal program in Camden County. More than 90 meals are served five days a week and provide older adults in our community the opportunity to socialize, learn, laugh and play a vital role in a dynamic program. The average participant is 82 years of age, widowed and living alone and statistically, older adults living alone, regardless of income, are malnourished because it is difficult to be motivated to cook for one.

The hashtag #JCCBubbesBrisket was formed in 2015 when the Katz JCC needed a new way to raise funds for their senior meal program. One of the senior’s favorite meals is brisket, which brings back fond memories and reminds them of their childhood. Bubbe is Yiddish for grandmother, and we think of our seniors as family and so the hashtag #JCCBubbesBrisket was born. It is at the Katz JCC where seniors can enjoy a delicious kosher meal prepared on site five days a week, take advantage of transportation to and from the JCC, build up an appetite by enjoying an exercise or craft class and make new friends.

In an effort to keep this vital program at the Katz JCC flourishing, they have launched their second Bubbe’s Brisket crowdfunding campaign, to run for one month. These donation amounts will provide the following support to the program:

· Four meals, with a $36 donation (you did a Mitzvah!)

· One week of meals, with a $54 donation (Just a little Nosh!)

· Two weeks of meals, with a $118 donation (Oy vey! You’re too kind!)

· One month of meals, with a $250 donation (You’re a Mentsh!)

· Two months of meals, with a $500 donation (Mazel Tov! Lechayim!)

· Six months of meals, with a $1,800 donation (Mishpocheh!)

In 2015, the initial campaign goal was $6,000 and $13,000 was raised. This year, the goal is $10,000.
