A message from the Moorestown Board of Education

Kathy Goldenberg steps down from the Moorestown BOE for a seat on the New Jersey State Board of Education.

The following is a message from the Moorestown Board of Education in regards to board president Kathy Goldenberg’s departure:

At the June 20, Moorestown Board of Education meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Kathy Goldenberg. Goldenberg was confirmed by the New Jersey Senate on June 19 to serve on the State Board of Education, a position which does not allow for local board of education service.

“It comes with a heavy heart however, since I sincerely enjoy working with our board, superintendent, administrators, faculty and community,” Goldenberg said. “We have, in my opinion, one of the greatest school districts within the state.”

Goldenberg served on the Moorestown Board of Education since 2007. Her service included time as president, vice-president and the chair of multiple committees. Goldenberg has also been active outside of the board with the Moorestown Rotary Club, Garden State Coalition of Schools and the Moorestown Home and School Association, among many other organizations.

Vice-president Brandon Pugh is serving as acting president until the board holds a special election.

“While we are very sad to see Kathy leave the Board, we know that she will take the same passion and dedication she brought to Moorestown to the State Board of Education to advocate on behalf of all students across New Jersey,” Pugh said. “Kathy’s commitment to public education and to Moorestown is unparalleled, and we cannot thank her enough for her tireless work and for the positive impact she made on the district, board and community. The entire board wishes Kathy the best as she moves onto a new challenge and opportunity.”

Moving forward, the board will be accepting applications and will interview to fill the vacancy through reorganization 2018. Official information on that process will be released soon at www.mtps.com. Any questions can be directed to acting president, Brandon Pugh, at [email protected] or Joanne D’Angelo, business administrator/board secretary at [email protected].
