For HMHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian, school meant family

For Christa DeCoursey and Noah Kamerling, their time at Haddonfield Memorial High School has been more than just a learning experience. The last four years for the 2017 valedictorian and salutatorian have been about creating relationships with their fellow classmates and teachers. DeCoursey, the Class of 2017’s valedictorian, said looking back on her time at HMHS, what stands out is the bond students formed in classes. Individual students in a classroom transformed over the course of a the school year, DeCoursey said. Looking back on her time, this sense of family is what DeCoursey said she will miss most in college. She said at HMHS, students become close not only with one another but with their teachers, who give their students individual care and attention.

South Jersey Rowing steers its way to gold with Haddonfield teacher at the helm

Haddonfield resident David Reader, a social studies teacher at Haddonfield Memorial High School, said going into the 2017 USRowing Youth National Championships Sarasota, he was confident his team would do well, but he wasn’t sure how his teams’ skillset would translate compared to some of the largest rowing programs in the nation. Reader, who coaches the varsity women’s teams at the South Jersey Rowing Club, said when his varsity women’s double team earned gold at the national competition on Sunday, June 11, it was truly an accomplishment coming out of a small, local program.

Haddonfield Soccer scores division win

Haddonfield Soccer Club United won the Eastern Development Program 2005 2nd Division East spring season with a 7–1–1 record. The girls, who were all born in 2005, competed on the under 12 team this past season. The team clinched the division title on Friday, June 9 with a six to five win against South Jersey Academy FC at the Haddonfield Memorial High School Anniversary Field. Allison Tighe scored 3 goals leading the team to the win.
