The engagement story of Shea and Sean

The two were ‘matched’ on Match.com

I guess it is no surprise in this day in age, we were lucky enough to be ‘matched’ on Match.com. I (Shea) was going through Match emails, and came across one from a guy whose profile picture included his cat (because we know I’m obsessed!). Intrigued, I emailed back. After a few days of texting, we decided to have a date, very casual, and at a place that Sean loves, Dave & Busters. You can say from that day on, it was love. We moved in together three months later. Took our first vacation together 7 months after that. And were engaged just four days before our one-year as a couple!

The day Sean proposed, was well, not the best of days. Not a bad day, just ‘people’ were extremely annoying and needy for some reason that day at the office. Work was busy, email after email, question after question, and I just could not get any work done. Sean was consistently texting me, so I finally had to say, “We can talk later, I’m busy at work.” After leaving the office, walking home, I finally reach the house. I am opening the back door, and that was when I seriously almost had a heart attack!!! Sean, who doesn’t arrive home normally until about an hour after me, was sitting at the kitchen table. The lights turned down, candles burning, very romantic. I was so frightened, I screamed out some profanity, he said, “Shea don’t be scared,” very calmly. Then, asked me to read the card behind him, which was sitting with a bottle of champagne, flowers, and the ring box — not once did I think the ring in the box was an engagement ring! I read the card, and at the end he wrote, “Will you marry me?” It took me a minute to process, and after repeatedly saying “What’s going on? What’s happening?” I said YES!!! It was beautiful, and unimaginable all the thought Sean put into this proposal.

We popped the champagne, and called our family and friends! He then began to tell me about his day, picking up the ring, having lunch with his mom, asking my dad for his blessing (which is also a good story…according to my father, I am Sean’s problem now!), and watching the minutes slowly pass until I walked through the door. It was perfect!

And that is our story❤
