The engagement story of Megan and Dave

Dave makes Megan feel like the world was made just for them

It was the morning of the gender reveal for our first child together. I was running around like crazy trying to get things ready for the huge amount of people that would be over in the next few hours. Snacks, drinks, plates, napkins, cups…the list went on and on. I think I took a shower somewhere in there too (LOL). Dave seemed amazingly calm for how much we had to get done. I didn’t even think to notice he kept disappearing for 20 minutes at a time (a detail I would soon learn was to calm his nerves).

As the first of our guests arrived I continued my mad dash to make sure everything was ready and perfect for the reveal. Dave- as he always does- was the life of the party, making every laugh and keeping them all patiently waiting.

And then it came, the big moment, we would reveal the gender of our first child. Everyone gathered in the room, everyone anxiously waiting to see the color. I started my very rehearsed speech on what would happen. We would ask everyone to choose the balloon color they thought the gender would be (blue or pink) and on the count of three blow up the balloon. The color of the gender would inflate and the others would not…

So…everyone had their balloon. I grabbed my camera…started to count…when Dave interrupted and said “WAIT WAIT, we have one more thing to do….” To which I gave him a look as if to say “No, we don’t…”. So there I stood puzzled…

He dropped to one knee, took my hand, and uttered the most amazing words I had ever heard. “Will you marry me?”. Surrounded by our closest friends and family, I said “YES!”, It was the most wonderful moment of our entire relationship & I could not imagine a more perfect setting. Everyone who had been there since day one, everyone who had seen us grow as a couple, everyone who loved us and our family- was there.

For a moment, the world revolved entirely around us. Dave has always had that effect on me, to make me feel like the world was made just for us.

I cannot wait to marry this man on October 6th, 2018. He is the epitome of everything I could have ever asked for. The greatest friend, the best partner, and the world’s most loving father.

And in case you were wondering Jackson Taylor was born on Dec. 14, 2015….The balloons were blue
