Lenape Regional High School District holds Eighth Annual Armed Services Ceremony
With graduation day for the Lenape Regional High School District less than a month away, last night district officials continued the annual tradition of honoring senior students entering the military, military academies or college ROTC programs upon graduation. The night marked the district’s Eighth Annual Armed Services Ceremony, in which staff, family, friends and active service members and veterans came together to wish the students well and impart advice for the future.
Mt. Laurel student testifies on needs of gifted students before state Department of Education
Harrington Middle school student Tanya Das, age 13, feels strongly that gifted children, such as herself, are not being served properly by state public schools. So when Tanya learned through her membership in the state chapter of the National Association for Gifted Children about an opportunity to speak on the issue before an open workshop of the state Department of Education in early May, she jumped at the chance.
Lenape students present Crystal Apple awards to supportive teachers
Presenting an apple to their favorite teacher took on a whole new meaning for some students at Lenape High School when students were invited to nominate a staff member who made them feel like a member of his or her own family or went “the extra mile” to support them as part of this year’s Crystal Apple awards. Students were asked to write an essay about a Lenape teacher, coach, counselor, nurse, secretary, administrator, custodian, faculty or staff member and their positive impact, inspiration, or influence in their lives.
Lenape High School Mural Club debuts their first mural on school wall
Lenape High School’s Mural Club’s first mural is in the books — or actually on the wall. Lenape officials say after months of hard work, the huge mural was recently completed. Art design director Ali Ciavaglia described the mural as an awesome way to truly see and embrace “Lenape Pride.”
Mt. Laurel mayor presents proclamation to Mt. Laurel Center for National Nursing Home Week
On Monday, May 15, Mt. Laurel Township Mayor Dennis Riley presented a proclamation to the Mt. Laurel Center on Church Road for National Nursing Home Week. According to the center, Riley read touching language to the staff from encouraging the staff to continue to keep supporting and caring for the senior population, especially to those in need of skilled-nursing care.
