Troop 65 to fundraise at farmer’s market

Haddonfield’s Boy Scout Troop 65 will be at the Farmer’s Market on June 10 to fundraise for their community conservation project.

Haddonfield’s Boy Scout Troop 65 will continue to collect plastic bottle caps through the summer, which will be turned into a bench as part of their community conservation project. Haddonfield’s Boy Scout Troop 65 began collecting 400 pounds of plastic bottle caps in April to be turned into a bench as their community conservation project.

The troop surpassed their goal and is now working toward collecting enough caps for a second bench. The troop will be fundraising at the Haddonfield Farmer’s Market in Kings Court on June 10. The scouts need to raise $225 per bench to have the caps transformed.

They will have plants to give away as well as a box chair that they will ask shoppers to help decorate at the farmer’s market. The completed benches will be gifted to the UrbanPromise Community Garden and School in Camden, and the bench project is part of the troop’s efforts toward earning the Boy Scouts of America’s World Conservation Award.

The troops are planning a late August or early September camping trip out to Evansville to drop off the benches.
