PAARC, PSAT and lead testing results spur concern for Haddonfield’s Board of Education
Haddonfield’s Board of Education had testing results at the forefront of the Thursday, April 20 meeting. With the scores in for Haddonfield’s PARCC, PSAT and lead testing, the board discussed how to proceed. Curriculum Committee Chair Mary Fagan said Haddonfield Middle School may have to undergo scheduling changes as the result of low sixth-grade PARCC scores in both English language arts and math for the second year in a row. Superintendent Richard Perry said the internal pipes of the district’s buildings were in good shape, indicating the district does not have a problem with lead piping.
Disarming conversations about gun safety in Haddonfield
Through “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America”, Lackpour, a Haddonfield resident, has been presenting the “Be Smart” program throughout town, which is a public health campaign designed to keep kids safe from unintentional shootings. To date, she has presented at private homes, attended a Haddonfield Progressives’ meeting and even meet with borough commissioners to discuss practical ways to keep children safe in homes where guns are stored. On Tuesday, April 18, Lackpour held a “Be Smart” presentation at Haddonfield Public Library that brought together women with a diverse array of reasons for attending.
Haddonfield Memorial’s end of the year showcase features something for everyone
On April 29 at 7:30 p.m., the Haddonfield Memorial High School Drama Club will present its end of the year showcase titled “Bulldawgs on Broadway in the New Millennium.” This year’s show features music from 19 musicals, including “Wicked,” “Mamma Mia” and “Hairspray.” “Bulldawgs on Broadway” allows students to participate in both large ensemble numbers as well as solo and group acts. Now in its third year, the showcase is the culmination of the drama club’s successful run of shows, said Director of Musical Theater at HMHS Matthew DiDonato.
