Haddonfield Summer Choir Camp Announced

The Haddonfield Center and School for the Performing Arts will host its fourth annual Choir Camp thisĀ August.

The Haddonfield Center and School for the Performing Arts has announced its fourth annual Choir Camp this summer, slated for Monday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 11, with a performance Friday Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. Choir Camp is an afternoon day program for young people that provides an active musical experience through vocal training, group singing and community-building activities.

The program, offered for all young people entering first grade through twelfth grade, will take place at the Haddonfield Center for the Performing Arts, located in the Parish Hall of Grace Episcopal Church in Haddonfield.

Campers will learn a wide variety of songs emphasizing the skills of rhythm, listening, singing in harmony and teamwork. No previous singing experience or advance preparation is necessary. The camp will feature three groups: a lower division for ages six through eight, middle division for ages nine through twelve and upper division for ages thirteen through eighteen. In addition to the choral experience, students in the Upper Division will have opportunities for solo vocal coaching. The camp will conclude with a performance by the camp choirs at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug.Ā 11.

Choir Camp is directed by Maximillian Esmus, who leads two youth choirs as the music director of Grace Church in Haddonfield.

ā€œAbove all, our objective is to foster a greater appreciation for the joy of singing in community and the discipline of working toward a common goal,ā€ EsmusĀ said.

Co-directors include Cristin Charlton Introcaso, the director of choirs at Collingswood Senior High School and Alexa Kowalski, an experienced childrenā€™s music educator and Music Together instructor.

The registration fee is $30 per student. Online registration is available through the Centerā€™s website, www.haddonarts.org.
