Medford placed under a Flood Watch

One to two inches of rain expected between Thursday and Friday

For the second consecutive week, Medford and much of the Philadelphia region is under an areal flood watch.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch to take effect on Thursday morning at 8 a.m. The watch will continue until Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The flood watch was issued with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected on Thursday. The National Weather Service is forecasting the region to receive one to two inches of rain on Thursday, with isolated spots receiving three inches. Rivers and streams in the area are already running high from last week’s rain.

The rain could result in some flooding along roadways and poor drainage areas. There is the possibility of flash flooding in isolated areas on Thursday.

Some small streams and creeks may overflow their banks late on Thursday. Minor to moderate flooding could occur on larger rivers Thursday night into Friday. The river flooding could continue into the weekend.
