Weekly Roundup: Voorhees elementary students see hard work pay off in big ways

This week in Voorhees, students got to watch themselves on TV and raised more shoes than they predicted.

Kresson School students see hard work pay off — on the news

The students in Sandy Rocco’s fifth-grade class at Kresson School were given a great opportunity when they were able to interview Joyce Hansen, the author of one of the class’ favorite books, “The Captive.” Then, NJTV sweetened the deal. They offered to film the interview and air it on television.

Students at Osage School help collect shoes for Soles4Souls

At first, their expectations were not high. Students in Caitlin Peluszak’s class at Osage Elementary School predicted they would not collect a lot of shoes — at best, 20 pairs, and at worst, a measly four pairs. On only the third day of running the Soles4Souls fundraiser, they were happily proven wrong. Sitting in the classroom were 18 bags and two boxes full of shoes, each containing at least four pairs.

Mayor’s Column: Voorhees Township offers extensive bike path system

Two weeks ago, Mayor Mignogna urged Voorhees Township residents to get outdoors and enjoy our Voorhees parks. This week, he encourages you to hop on your bicycle and ride the Voorhees bike path system. Voorhees Township has more miles of bike path than any other municipality in Camden County.

Register for Victorious Foundation’s Wine and Food Tasting Night

Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation will hold a fundraiser on Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m. The foundation was created to benefit children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Donations are $50 online, and $60 at the door. All proceeds for the event will benefit these children.
