Evesham Police continue to promote voluntary surveillance camera registration program

The department asks residents and businesses to voluntarily register privately owned surveillance camera systems to help the department.

For those who currently utilize private video surveillance at their home or business, the Evesham Township Police Department asks residents and businesses to voluntarily register their systems to help the department respond to criminal incidents.

As crimes occur nearby to those residents and businesses that have private surveillance systems, police say those residents and businesses are not always aware that their system may have captured information that could help police solve crimes and keep the community safer.

According to the department, video surveillance is one of the best methods for apprehending criminals and convicting suspects who are caught in the act of committing crimes.

As such, the department is asking residents and businesses across the township to voluntarily register their privately owned surveillance camera systems.

After registering a camera, residents and businesses would only be contacted by the department if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of their security camera.

At that time, police personnel, if necessary, would request to view camera footage in order to assist in any investigation.

For those interested in participating in this community-police partnership, register cameras at http://www.eveshampd.org/index.php/community-video-partner.

Information provided to the department regarding camera systems will be for official use only. Personal information will be confidential and not be for public dissemination.
