Cherry Hill Public Schools named 2017 New Jersey District of Character
Cherry Hill Public Schools’ received more recognition for its character education initiatives this week when the district was named a 2017 New Jersey District of Character. Cherry Hill and New Providence School District in North Jersey were the only two districts to receive the honor. In addition, A. Russell Knight and Bret Harte elementary schools were named New Jersey Schools of Character for 2017.

About a month after Cherry Hill High School East’s 2017 spring musical, “Ragtime,” received a lot of attention in the community due to the language used in the show, students are now preparing for opening night in less than two weeks. Members of the cast are excited to perform the show, saying there is a relevant message about racism and social justice the audience needs to hear.
Cherry Hill East girls swimming snags first sectional championship in four years
This season was the last chance the Cherry Hill High School East girls swimming seniors had at winning a sectional title. With the help of a talented group of freshmen, the team was able to finally achieve its goal of championship glory. The Cougars avenged last season’s sectional championship loss to Egg Harbor Twp. High School, winning the program’s first sectional championship since 2013.
Cherry Hill West grad dies following motorcycle crash in Pennsauken
A member of the Cherry Hill High School West Class of 2016 died suddenly last week after being involved in a fatal motorcycle accident near Airport Circle in Pennsauken. Pennsauken Township Police said 18-year-old Anthony Evans Jr. died after suffering fatal injuries in the crash, which took place last Sunday morning shortly after 10 a.m.
Short Hills Restaurant and Deli slated to re-open
Fans of Cherry Hill’s Short Hills Restaurant and Deli received good news last week when the restaurant announced plans to re-open early in the spring. The eatery will re-open less than a year after a two-alarm fire caused heavy damage to the establishment. A reconstruction project is currently underway and the restaurant will sport a brand new look once it re-opens.
