Mayor’s Column — The Voorhees Business Association’s Annual Bowling Fundraiser is April 7

The VBA will donate two $1,000 scholarships to Eastern Regional High School graduating students and another $1,000 contribution to the Eastern Education Foundation.

The Voorhees Business Association’s Annual Bowling Fundraiser will be on Friday, April 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Big Event located in the Ellisburg Shopping Center, located at 1536 Kings Highway N. in Cherry Hill. This year, the VBA has committed to donate two $1,000 scholarships to Eastern Regional High School graduating students and another $1,000 contribution to the Eastern Education Foundation which supports events, projects, trips, educational activities and clubs not budgeted by the high school. The event will also benefit the Voorhees Pediatric Facility, a very deserving organization in the heart of the Voorhees community.

Bowling lanes will be available for individuals and groups with a maximum of six bowlers per lane. For $20, an individual bowler will be teamed up with other bowlers. A $95 donation gets one lane for six bowlers and includes pizza and a pitcher of soda. For $100, a corporate sponsorship, the group gets one lane and signage. A $150 corporate sponsorship gets one lane with signage, bowling for up to six bowlers, a free pizza and a pitcher of soda.

There will also be a basket auction and a 50/50 raffle.

For more information about the event or to register, visit www.voorheesbusinessassociation.org or send a check to the VBA, P.O. Box 349, Voorhees, New Jersey 08043 with “Bowling” and your sponsorship level in the memo line.

The VBA was started in 1989 when a small group of Voorhees business owners formed a local club to promote business in the Township. The mission of the VBA is to provide a forum for business persons and businesses in the area to meet, share and discuss concerns and interests of a civic, commercial, cultural or economic nature. The VBA also seeks to facilitate a dialogue and channel the energies and resources of the business community and elected officials into improving Voorhees Township.

The VBA has partnered with our Economic Development Committee to form the Voorhees Business Retention Task Force to help our local businesses continue to thrive.

Other VBA activities include contributing money to Eastern’s Project Graduation and the Voorhees Police Holiday Fund, providing scholarships to Eastern’s graduating seniors and sponsoring such events as the “Striking Out Kids’ Cancer Community Fair” and the Pumpkin Patch at our Annual Halloween Festival. The VBA has also provided gifts to children at the Voorhees Pediatric Facility.

Members of the VBA have volunteered as judges for Eastern’s DECA Marketing Competition and as coaches for Eastern’s Job Program. Young entrepreneurs and professionals experience life in the real world through the VBA’s “Take A Student to Work Program.”

The VBA has its luncheon meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be held March 15 at noon at Catelli Duo on restaurant row in the Voorhees Town Center. The VBA website also includes member information, a member directory, a member application, upcoming events, links and contact information.

Plan on coming to the Bowling Fundraiser and an upcoming VBA luncheon meeting. Help make a difference in our community!
