Burlington County announces applications open for adoption of puppies from closed Puppy Barn

The Burlington County Animal Shelter will be accepting applications to adopt the recently surrendered Puppy Barn puppies until Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio has announced that the Burlington County Animal Shelter will be accepting applications from those interested in adopting the recently surrendered Puppy Barn puppies.

Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 5 p.m.

“Applications will be available to anyone who is interested in one of these puppies,” Garganio said. “However, we will be giving priority to Burlington County residents.”

To apply, interested adopters can go to petango.com and fill-out an application online through http://www.petango.com/adoption-application.

Interested parties can select “baby” in step seven to indicate that they are specifically interested in a puppy.

Garganio said applicants will need to register with Petango to access the application form.

However, Garganio said the county can not guarantee a specific breed for those selected.

“Approved adopters will be put into a lottery system and numbers will be drawn using a random number generator to ensure everyone gets a fair shot at adopting one of these puppies,” Garganio said.

The selected adopters will be notified by Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. with additional information about the adoption process.

The cost to adopt a Puppy Barn puppy will be $300.

“Each of these puppies were posted for sale between $1,000 and $1,500 at the Puppy Barn. Our $300 adoption fee will not only cover the associated vet costs necessary to get these puppies back to good health, but also includes a month of pet insurance, micro-chipping, and spay or neuter,” Garganio said.

In addition, Garganio said all proceeds will go towards sponsoring a free adoption of an animal currently at the shelter. In this way adopters are saving two animals.

“We don’t want the many great pets already at the shelter to be overlooked,” Garganio said. “We are grateful to have been able to help get these puppies back to health and are eager to find them good forever homes.”

No late applications will be accepted.

To update an existing application, contact the shelter by e-mail at [email protected] with “Puppy Barn Application” in the subject line and include a name and address. Those interested may also call the shelter at (609) 265–5073 with information.

The breeds of puppies available for adoption include:
