To preview the upcoming Read Across America Month, students decorated letters and read a Dr. Seuss book.
First and second-graders at Wedgwood Elementary School were excited to showcase letters of the alphabets that that they had personalized to coordinate with a reading of Dr. Seuss’ “ABCs: An Amazing Alphabet Book” during an assembly on Feb. 16th. But, when the Cat in the Hat himself showed up to greet the students and congratulate the winners of the letter-coloring contest, the celebration went to a whole new level.
As librarian Melissa Dabrowski read the book, students held up their artwork when she came to their letter of the alphabet. Art teacher Rich Wolf then announced the class winners of the contest, and the group posed with the Cat in the Hat.
The students sent their visitor on his way by singing “Dr. Seuss, We Love You.”
