Kennedy Health hosts events to focus on health

Strokes and emergency care planning will be topics discussed at presentations

Kennedy Health is hosting a series of winter wellness programs to help educate and keep community members healthy.

Did you know more women will suffer strokes this year than men, and 80 percent of strokes are preventable? The presentation, “Do you know the signs of a stroke,” on Feb. 9, at 3 p.m., by Dr. Jay Klazmer, neurologist at Kennedy Health Alliance, will cover information on strokes, including what they are, signs and symptoms, how to respond, what to expect in the ER, and treatment options.

On Wednesday, March 29, at 2 p.m., Melissa Mordecai, elder care coordinator at Kennedy Health, will talk about making decisions regarding the care you would want to receive if you were to become unable to speak for yourself at “An important conversation to have while you’re healthy.”

Both events are free and will be held at Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library. Registration is required. Please visit www.kennedyhealth.org or call 1–800–547–9007 and select option 3 to reserve your spot.
