Attendees can see the new documentary about the continued fight for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) entitled “Equal Means Equal.”
Locals can soon help celebrate the recent birthday of Mt. Laurel native and suffragist Alice Paul, born more than 130 years ago in January of 1885.
To commemorate Paul, on Jan. 22 the Alice Paul Institute (API) will be showing the new documentary about the continued fight for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) entitled “Equal Means Equal” by director and activist Kamala Lopez.
After serving as the main leader during the 1910s for the campaign for the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Paul went on to fight for an Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as well.
After the film, the API will be moderating a discussion with Linda Wharton, professor of political science from Stockton University.
Those who attend the event can also learn more about what locals can do to support the passage of the ERA, which Paul wrote and fought for.

The “Alice Paul Birthday Bash & Film Screening” will take place on Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Moorestown Friends Meetinghouse, 118 East Main Street, Moorestown.
