Groundbreaking ceremony held in late August
Rowan College at Burlington County was able move forward this year with an idea that officials with the college have described as the “centerpiece” of the college’s transition to making Mt. Laurel its main campus.
In late August, the college held a groundbreaking ceremony for the school’s new Student Success Center.
Scheduled to be completed and open in fall 2017, the new building will face Route 38 and measure about 78,000 square feet.
The building is set to help students on campus by housing all of the college’s student services that don’t involve a classroom, such as advising, financial aid, registration, a testing center, tutoring, a cafeteria and a knowledge commons.
The Student Success Center will also create a quad with existing buildings already on campus and add 320 parking spaces. Construction was also set to complete an already existing looping road at the college that would fully enclose the campus.
The cost of the project was estimated around $25.4 million, with RCBC President Paul Drayton describing the building as a “symbol of the college’s commitment of putting students first” at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony.
“This building will play a large role by providing all the support and resources students need in one state-of-the-art and beautiful facility,” Drayton said during the event.
