Haddonfield Plays and Players presents “Leap of Faith” starting Dec. 1 through Dec. 17

“Leap of Faith” takes the stage at Haddonfield Plays and Players this December to tell the story of con artist, the “Reverend” Jonas Nightingale. The reverend ends up in a small Kansas town, creating schemes to take people’s money as he travels with his fictitious ministry. Little does he know, the sheriff, a woman named Marla McGowan, is onto him (and he can’t wait to get on her).

Jonas traps the townspeople with his fake religious practice and succeeds pretty well until Marla is determined to stop him. He is later challenged when he develops feelings for the sheriff but is stuck in his conniving ways. This stage musical is based on the 1992 American movie of the same name, which starred Steve Martin. The music is by Alan Menken with lyrics by Glenn Slater and book by Janus Cercone.

Scheduled dates are a preview on Thursday, Dec. 1, opening Friday, Dec. 2 and Dec. 3, 9, 10, 14, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 4 and 11 at 2 p.m.

Haddonfield Plays and Players is at 957 East Atlantic Ave. in Haddonfield. Tickets for “Leap of Faith” can be purchased online at the Haddonfield Plays and Players website www.haddonfieldplayers.com/tickets.php.
