Eastern Regional High School hosts free youth heart screenings

The screening will be held in honor of former student, Kara Lemanowicz, who passed away due to an undetected heart condition.

Eastern Regional High School and Simon’s Fund are hosting a free youth heart screening for kids ages 12–19 in memory of former student, Kara Lemanowicz, on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lemanowicz, passed away in her sleep due to an undetected heart condition in Sept. 2015. She was 14 years old and a member of the high school’s girls’ soccer team.

Simon’s Fund was established in 2005 by Darren and Phyllis Sudman to honor the memory of their son, Simon, who died suddenly at three months old of an unknown heart defect called Long QT Syndrome. Simon’s Fund raises awareness about the warning signs and conditions that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death in children.

The Heart House and Premier Pediatric Cardiology, LLC, will check blood pressure, height and weight and perform an ECG exam and echocardiogram if necessary.

Eastern Regional High School is located at 1401 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees.
