The township was honored for promoting the growth of the healthcare industry.
Cherry Hill Township was recently honored at the 11th annual Tri-County Economic Development Summit. More than 300 business and industry leaders, bankers, entrepreneurs and government officials from throughout Southern New Jersey met at the Collingswood Grand Ballroom to discuss improving the region’s economy and promoting job creation. The event is a celebration of the work that is being done and the economic prospects for the future.
The awardees at the summit included Cherry Hill Township. The township was honored for nurturing the growth of the healthcare industry in the municipality, especially its robust expansion with the addition of Penn Medicine campus on Route 70 and the reconstruction and revitalization of Kennedy Hospital.
Over the course of just last year, more development and construction is occurring in Camden County than any other place in South Jersey. Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. talked about the impact those building and infrastructure projects have had on the region and what it has meant for the unemployment rate.
“We have seen unprecedented growth in Camden County from our northern most point to our southern border adjacent to Atlantic County,” Cappelli said. “The Freeholder Board is watching corporate towers grow from the banks of the Delaware River to new residential development being built around the farms of Winslow. We have seen a historic swing of the pendulum over the last three years as the unemployment rate has been cut in more than half to 5.1 percent and new jobs flood area. The Tri-County Economic Summit provides a forum for us and business leaders to explore new ways to focus on further growth and tell our story of success to our colleagues.”
The summit was sponsored jointly by Gloucester County, Burlington County and Camden County. It showcased the region’s resources in both the public and private sectors, as well as highlighted many of the economic agendas and advancements throughout South Jersey.
Several other organizations were also honored at the event for their economic contributions to their respective counties.
