The Cherry Hill-based Tri-State K-9 Crisis Response Team is holding its first major fundraiser, the 5K Run and Fun, followed by the Crate Escape, on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken.
Following the 5K, the Crate Escape will be a party with food, music, canine demonstrations, pet and human massages, contests, an animal communicator, basket auction and more. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume interpretations of “crate escape.”
Tri-State K-9 Crisis Response Team is a non-profit organization that helps victims deal with emotional trauma triggered by a natural or man-made disaster or crisis. Tri-State teams provide emotional support to victims and first responders in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and beyond. When not involved in crisis response work, the team led a paw to local schools, universities, pediatric and autism programs, psychiatric facilities, senior centers, veterans’ homes, homeless shelters, group homes and adult day care programs.
Proceeds from the 5K will help the organization build a reserve to cover costs associated with deployments and to maintain its excellent standards for recruiting, training, certification and continuing education.
