State Archaeologist to Speak at Community House

Dr. Gregory D. Lattanzi, curator for the Bureau of Archaeology and Ethnology at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, will speak about New Jersey archaeology on Thursday evening, Oct.13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Community House located at 16 E Main St. for the Historical Society of Moorestown’s Annual Fall Membership Meeting.

Dr. Lattanzi’s talk will serve as an introduction to the Historical Society’s exciting upcoming archaeological exhibit at the Smith-Cadbury Mansion. The exhibit will kick off the following Sunday, Oct. 16.

Dr. Lattanzi received a bachelors degree in Anthropology from the State University of New York at Binghamton, a Masters in Anthropology from Hunter College at the City University of New York, and a Ph.D. from Temple University.

He has participated in archaeological digs in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, published articles and book reviews and has given public presentations on New Jersey’s archaeology. His current projects include examining the role of copper in this area during the Early to Middle Woodland periods, studying ceramics and their implications for the social organization of the Middle Atlantic region and investigating the trade of exotic artifacts in what would become New Jersey.

Light refreshments will be served and admission is free.
