The National Weather Service has extended the Excessive Heat Warning through Tuesday as the oppressive heat and humidity continues.
The hot weather from the end of last week as continued into the early part of this week in Cherry Hill Township. Over the weekend, the National Weather Service extended the excessive heat warning for the township and surrounding area through Tuesday at 6Â p.m.
Heat index values are again expected to reach at or above 100 degrees according to the National Weather Service. The heat index will be around 97 to 102 degrees on Monday and will increase on Tuesday to as high as 103 to 108 degrees. Air temperatures will remain in the lower to middle 90s both days. A frontal boundary is expected to bring an end to the oppressive heat and humidity on Wednesday.
Residents are asked to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day to avoid heat-related illness. The Carmen Tilelli Community Center and Cherry Hill Mall will be open as cooling centers in the township over the next couple of days. The Cherry Hill Public Library is closed Monday and Tuesday for air conditioning repairs.
