Flash Flood Watch issued in Cherry Hill, surrounding area through Friday

More than two inches of rain per hour could fall with some storms as a system approaches the Philadelphia region.

Cherry Hill could see a ton of rain over the next couple days as the township and much of South Jersey in under a Flash Flood Watch.

The National Weather Service has issued the watch from 2 p.m. on Thursday through Friday evening. The watch was issued with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast late Thursday afternoon through the day on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected from Thursday afternoon into the evening. The rain is expected to become widespread late Thursday into Friday. Any storms hitting the area could produce localized flash flooding.

The National Weather Service said localized rainfall amounts could total two or more inches within an hour and isolated rainfall could total four inches or more if storms move repeatedly over the same area.

Residents are warned not to drive into flooded roadways and to keep an eye on weather forecasts over the next few days.
