Congressman Tom MacArthur will host a military academy nominee reception on Saturday, May 14 at 9 a.m. in Moorestown at the Community House.
Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, Colo.; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, N.Y.
Congressman MacArthur has nominated 11 individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to the district. Factors such as academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills, character and motivation are taken into consideration during the nomination process. The 11 individuals attending have received appointments.
