Moorestown Township Public Schools has vacancies on Board of Education, accepting applications

The following is an announcement from Moorestown Township Public Schools Board of Education President Kathy Goldenberg from the school district’s website, www.mtps.com:

It is with regret that we report that two current BOE members Al Panzarella and Harry Faunce have submitted resignations, effective immediately, for personal reasons.

Panzarella submitted his resignation due to new job responsibilities that have him traveling a significant amount of time. As such, it has been difficult for him to make board meetings and keep committee assignments, which he believes is not fair to the district. As a result, Panzarella has decided to relinquish his position with the board to “allow someone who has more time to be fully engaged in the opportunity to serve the stakeholders of MTPS.” In his resignation letter, Panzarella stated that he is “grateful for having had the privilege to serve on the Moorestown Board of Education. We have an outstanding school system and it has been an honor to have been part of it.”

Faunce submitted his resignation, citing personal reasons. After “thinking long and hard about this decision,” Faunce cited that the time commitment is “affecting my ability to be the best dad, husband and friend I can be” and that he is “going to take a big step back from all things school related so that I can focus on my family.”

The board extends their gratitude to both Panzarella and Faunce for their service to MTPS. Panzarella’s three year term on the Board was due to expire this coming December while Faunce’s term was not to expire until December 2018. As has occurred in the past during such situations, interim board replacements will be appointed to serve the remainder of this year until such time that permanent board members are sworn in this coming January 2017. Interim board members are voted in by the current board and may include former board members, former interim or full-time, or other members of the public that may be interested in serving in the role. Board training will be provided once appointed to fulfill the requirements of the position.
