Mayor’s Column: Camden County to start repair work on Kresson Road

Voorhees Township has several Camden County owned roads that are maintained and repaired by the County. Kresson Road is one of them and it will be repaired and repaved by Camden County starting the week of May 5, with construction expected to continue until October.

Camden County has begun a 10 year road repair plan, budgeting $25 million per year, with Kresson Road part of their first year’s plans. The road will be paved from Evesham Road to just west of Route 73. Concrete curb and driveway work will be the first phase with the actual paving scheduled for August. Completion is planned before the start of the school year. There are no plans for the road to be closed although there will be times where only one lane will be open to traffic. The hours of work will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are no plans for weekend or night work.

Our County Engineer held a meeting earlier this month with representatives from Voorhees Police, Fire Department, EMS, Public Utilities, Board of Education and affected businesses to discuss the work schedule in detail and make sure all issues by those in attendance were addressed. School busing concerns were reviewed extensively and it is not anticipated that there will be problems with bussing in the morning and work will be stopped before the end of the Kresson School day.

Construction signage will be installed prior to the start of work. In addition, notifications of work specific matters will be delivered to area residents and businesses. There is a construction schedule link on the Township web page www.voorheesnj.com. If you have any concerns, they should be directed to the construction inspector, Environmental Resolutions, at (856) 235–7170 or [email protected].

While there will be some inconvenience, this work is needed and will improve the safety and efficiency of travel on Kresson Road.
