Dear Friends,
We have made it through the month of March. I’m not sure if it was a lamb or lion month, but it did bring us Spring. The daffodils are blooming, and I have seen my first azalea bush in bloom. Can warm weather be far behind?
I thought I might take this opportunity to remind you about some of our regular programs, as well as let you know about some exciting events in the near future.
On Mondays at 10:30 a.m., Miss Danielle hosts a time of songs, stories rhymes and songs for our friends who are too young to read. Baby Time and Toddler Time alternate so check the library schedule for dates and to register.
Another of our special services is paws to read, a program designed to help children with their reading skills. The paws belong to registered therapy dogs Brooke, a six-year-old Standard Poodle, and Ocho, a four-year-old German Shepard. Children can register to read to their furry friends for 15 minutes, and both dogs love a good story. This special time helps children of all ages improve both their literacy skills and their confidence.
Our youth are invited to join one of the many clubs available to them. There is a chess club, a Lego club, anime club and our popular mini-maker camps. For you gamers in our community, we have Pokemon, Minecraft, Wii Super Smash Brothers Brawl and more. There is something for every age and skill level.
We continue to offer our family movie night. In April we will be showing “The Good Dinosaur” on the April 12 at 6 p.m. Snacks are provided or you may bring your own snacks, blankets, and pillows. You might even want to wear your best jammiejams.
Now for the new I promised you. On April 22, Mr. Rick will be celebrating William Shakespeare’ birthday with “The Jedi Doth Return: Shakespearean Star Wars”, the Bard’s version of Episode VI. Luke Skywalker and his rebels must seek fresh allies in their quest to thwart construction of a new Imperial Death Star. Feel free to come dressed in your best Star Wars (or Shakespearean) garb.
Don’t forget April 15 is right around the corner, and the tax man is waiting to hear from you. The library has many of the filing documents available including the usual 1040, 1040EZ, and 1040A. Other specialty documents can be printed for five cents a page.
