Haddonfield Citizen of the Year nominations due Dec. 22

The Annual Mayor’s Breakfast, hosted by the Haddonfield Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, 20 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door. Mayor Jeff Kasko will deliver the annual State of the Borough Address and also present the Citizen of the Year award, recognizing an outstanding member of the Haddonfield community.

The winner is selected by the Citizen of the Year Committee, which is comprised of a group of local individuals and organization representatives. Nominations are now being accepted. The submission deadline is Monday, Dec. 22.

A nomination form can be downloaded by visiting the Haddonfield Lions Club web site, haddonfieldlions.org, and clicking on the Citizen of the Year link. Forms are also available by contacting the Citizen of the Year committee chair, Tom Quigley, at [email protected]. A list of previous Citizen of the Year winners is also on the web site.

Many outstanding community members have been nominated previously, and the committee is happy to consider both former and new nominees. However, nominations must be current and include the 2016 Nomination Form as a cover sheet, together with one or more statements by those making the recommendation. Note: All nominees must be Haddonfield residents.

At the Mayor’s Breakfast, the Lions will be collecting eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones for recycling. This year, the Club will also collect non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry at the John D. Young Memorial Blind Center in Absecon.

The Haddonfield Lions Club is a service organization that supports community events and activities and provides assistance to those in need and people with sight-related problems, locally and globally. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world.
