The deadline to run for school board this November is quickly approaching.
Residents interested in running for school board must file with the Camden County Clerk’s Office by Monday, July 27 to have their name on the ballot in November’s election. All petitions must be filed with Camden County Clerk Joseph Ripa’s office on or before 4 p.m. on July 27. Petitions can be either mailed to The Office of the Camden County Clerk, P.O. Box 150 Camden, NJ 08101 or submitted in-person at the Camden County Courthouse, Room 102, 520 Market St. in Camden from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Requirements for board membership include:
– Must be a United States citizen
– Must be at least 18 years old
– Must be able to read and write
– Must be a resident of the municipality running in for at least one year
– Must not be holding any other elected office or another office in the local municipality and county
– Have no claim, interest in or contract with the board of education
– Must not be disqualified for conviction of crimes
Each candidate must complete a nomination petition including the signatures of at least 10 registered voters living in the district. Candidates must also adhere to all state requirements to file campaign-expense reports with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.
