BurlCo School Bus Admin. Receives Distinguished Service Award

Riverside School District Business Administrator/Board Secretary Jodi Lennon recently was honored by the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials with a 2015 Distinguished Service Award for her long-term, continuous exemplary service.

As part of the award, Lennon had the honor of presenting a $1,000 scholarship from NJASBO to Riverside student Blake Nestor. Lennon chose Nestor because he will be attending her alma mater, Rutgers University in Camden, majoring in business. Nestor is ranked 7th in his class and has a grade point average of 93.

Among just six Distinguished Service Awardees statewide, Lennon has served as BA/Board Secretary for Riverside School District since 1994. In this role, she develops and administers a $21 million budget and supervises personnel. Prior to working at Riverside, Lennon was hired as a clerk and then promoted to payroll clerk, bookkeeper, and finally accountant at the Waterford Township School District, where she worked from 1983 to 1994.

In nominating Lennon for the Distinguished Service Award, Patricia Austin, president of Burlington County ASBO said, “Jodi Lennon has been a dedicated officer of the Burlington County School Business Administrators for over 14 years. She has volunteered in various positions that benefits all and can always be counted on to mentor other business administrators in Burlington County. She is extremely knowledgeable and she shares that knowledge with her colleagues.”

Lennon served as chair of the editorial review committee for NJASBO, and as secretary and treasurer for Burlington County ASBO. She also has had many active roles in the Burlington County Joint Insurance Fund, including board of trustees member; currently, she is the treasurer for the organization. She is an approved mentor for school business administrators with the New Jersey Department of Education, and a member of the Association of School Business Officials International.

Lennon received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University in Camden and a masters in school business administration from Rowan University.

Lennon resides in Medford with her husband and teenaged son.
