Medford Township Police have charged two Lenape High School students with several offenses after an altercation on March 26.
A 16-year-old male was charged with possessing of a weapon in an educational institution, tampering with evidence and disorderly conduct following a disturbance on March 26 just after 7 a.m.
According to police, Lenape High School officials observed the disturbance in the north gym. Several students were involved and separated. Following the altercation officials, learn the 16-year-old was possible in possession of a utility. The knife was not displayed during the fight and the boy was not in possession of it during an initial investigation.
A school resource officer assigned to Lenape investigated the incident and discovered the boy did have the knife on his possession based on interviews and video surveillance. The boy was then charged a sa result of the investigation.
A 17-year-old boy was later charged with tampering with a witness and simple assault on March 30 when he assaulted another student. Police say the assault was directly connected to the initial investigation.
Both suspects will appear in family court for “off the street” hearings.
