The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Burlington County, supported in part by Burlington County College (BCC), is now helping eligible Medicare recipients apply for Medicare Savings Programs to assist with their healthcare costs.

Medicare recipients, who earn $26,575 (single), $32,582 (married), or less, may qualify for a Medicare Savings Program. Those who qualify can receive as much as $5,000 in annual assistance to help with Medicare expenses.

ā€œTimes are tough for many people, especially those living with fixed or limited incomesā€Šā€”ā€ŠMedicare Savings Programs can help,ā€ said Karen Bennett, RSVP of Burlington County Director. ā€œRSVP of Burlington County is here to help Medicare recipients learn more about the Medicare Savings Programs and how to apply to receive the benefits.ā€

There are different savings programs with unique benefits and eligibility requirements. Certain programs cover the Medicare Part B premium, a savings of $104.90 per month, for eligible individuals. Medicare recipients may also qualify for an average annual savings of $3,900 on Medicare Part D premiums and prescriptions with a low-income subsidy. Those who qualify may receive their Medicare Part D for free, including all premiums, deductibles and late fees. In addition to discounts on brand name and generic medications, there are no co-pays or deductibles for annual wellness visits and personalized prevention plan services.

Those who apply for a Medicare Savings Program will also be screened for New Jersey State programs to help subsidize heating and cooling costs and nutritional assistance.
